Maraschino
Dalmatian origin liquor, sweet and colorless based morello cherry, sour cherry varieties native of Dalmatia, a region now divided politically between Croatia, Montenegro and, for a short distance, at the port of Neum, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The recipe for "liqueur Maraschino" was conceived by some Dominican monks around the sixteenth century to Zara, in Venetian Dalmatia. The first industrial production of Maraschino took place in 1759 by Francesco Drioli who founded Factory Maraschino Drioli of Zadar.
