Mastika

Liquor made from the resin of the mastic tree. This tree grows mainly on the island of Chios in the Aegean Sea. In Greece, two drinks are known by this name: one is a liquor, the other is a distillate similar to Ouzo and Tsikoudia. In the southern Balkan states, however, an anise liquor. In the Republic of Macedonia is a distillate made from grapes, raisins, prunes or figs.
